Graduation Party Photo Booths in South Florida

Most graduation parties in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach need two hours and one open air booth, not a $850 build. Here is what that costs, and what May and June actually do to a backyard setup.

Short answer

A graduation party photo booth in South Florida starts at $399 for two hours on an open air Social booth, attendant included. That covers most house parties and rented halls. Backyards work if you can offer shade or a tent and one standard outlet within reach of the setup.

What a graduation party photo booth actually costs

Two hours on an open air booth, $399, attendant included. That is the honest recommendation for the large majority of graduation parties in this market, whether you are hosting fifty people in a backyard in Davie or eighty in a rented hall in Kendall.

We are telling you that instead of selling you up, because the math does not favor the expensive booth here. A graduation party is a short, loud, mostly young crowd that arrives in a clump, eats, takes pictures for an hour, and leaves before the parents want them to. The booth is busy for a defined window. Paying $749 or $850 for a bigger build buys you capability that window never uses.

The exceptions are real and we cover them below. A 350 person school or university event is a different job. A graduate who has wanted the spinning platform in every TikTok since freshman year is a different job. But if you are a parent reading this in April with a party to throw in May, the $399 line is the one to look at first.

Which booth actually fits a graduation party

Four of our six booths could technically work at a graduation. Only two of them make sense at a normal one.

Motion booths against the graduation party job

BoothStarting priceIncluded timeRight for a graduation?
Social (open air)$3992 hoursYes, for most parties. Fast, digital first, no curtain, groups of friends pile in together
Classic (enclosed)$7493 hoursOnly if prints are the whole point and you want the strip to be the keepsake
360$6993 hoursOnly if the graduate specifically wants it. Teens love it. It runs one turn at a time
AI$8503 hoursRarely. Fun, but it is a longer per guest interaction than a grad crowd has patience for
Headshot$5993 hoursNot for a party. Genuinely good for a college senior send off or a career services event
Brand Activation$2,5004 hoursNo, unless a sponsor is paying for it at a campus event

The open air booth wins on the thing that matters at a grad party, which is group size. Six friends in caps want to be in the same frame. A curtain forces them to take turns or squeeze. No curtain means the whole friend group gets one shot and moves on.

The 360 is the one real fork in the road. If the graduate has been asking for it by name, book it and stop reading this section. It costs $699 for three hours and it will be the thing people remember. Just know that it takes one small group at a time, so at a big party it produces a queue rather than volume.

The backyard reality in May and June

South Florida graduation season lands in the worst two months of the year for outdoor equipment. Heat, humidity and a storm that shows up at four in the afternoon and leaves by five. None of that makes a backyard booth a bad idea. It just means the setup has to be planned rather than assumed.

Shade is not optional

Every one of our booths works outdoors with shade or a tent. Direct afternoon sun in June is a problem for two reasons: it blows out the photo, and it cooks the equipment. A 10x10 pop up tent solves both. So does a covered patio, a carport, a lanai or the shaded side of the house after four o'clock. If you are renting the tent anyway for the food, put the booth under the same one.

The afternoon storm

Plan for rain even if the forecast says twenty percent, because in June the forecast always says twenty percent. The attendant we send can break a Social booth down and move it in a few minutes, but the move has to have somewhere to go. Decide that before the party, not during it.

Grass, pavers and pool decks

Grass is acceptable but not preferred. It is soft, it is rarely level, and after a morning shower it is mud. Pavers, a patio, a pool deck or a garage floor are all better. If grass is what you have, pick the flattest part of the yard and keep the booth away from the sprinkler heads and the area where the caterer will be walking a hot pan.

Where the power comes from

The Social booth runs off one standard wall outlet. In a backyard that usually means an exterior outlet on the back of the house or an extension from inside the garage. Tell us before the day which outlet you intend to use and roughly how far it is from the booth, because that is the difference between a clean setup and an extension cord running across the path to the food table.

Custom templates with the school colors and the class year

This is the part of a graduation booth that people underrate. The photo is a photo anywhere. The template is what makes it that party.

Send us three things and we will build the overlay before the event: the school name as it should appear, the two school colors, and the class year. If you have the school crest or a logo from the athletics program, send that too. Parents often want the graduate's name on it as well, and that is fine, though we would gently note that a template with one name on it is less shareable for the friends standing in the photo.

A few things we have learned doing these. Keep the year big, because that is what makes it read as a graduation photo in five years. Do not put so much border around the frame that four faces have to fit in the middle third. And if the graduate is going to a different school in the fall, the sharpest version of this we have printed used the high school colors on the strip and the college name small at the bottom.

Template design is not a separate line item on our quotes. It is part of the booking.

The graduate wants it on their phone. The parents want it on the fridge.

Every graduation party has two audiences and they want opposite things from the same booth.

The graduate and the twenty friends they invited want the photo on their phone immediately. Not in the gallery email tomorrow. Immediately, while they are still standing there, because the photo is going to a story within the minute. If a booth cannot do that, teenagers use it once and do not come back.

The parents, the grandparents and the aunt who flew in want something physical. A strip on the refrigerator door. That is a completely different product and it needs a printer on site.

The good news is that this is not a real conflict. Our open air Social booth is digital first, which means the phone delivery is the default path and it is instant. Adding prints puts a strip in the grandparents' hands at ten to twelve seconds per photo. You do not have to pick a side, you just have to tell us before the event which one is the priority so the attendant sets the flow up accordingly.

The gallery stays online for three years either way, which matters more for a graduation than for almost any other event we do. The people in those photos are about to scatter to six different schools.

If you are the school, not the parent

Campus and school bookings are a different job with a different set of problems, and almost none of them are about the booth.

  • Volume. A senior breakfast, a commencement reception or a college send off puts several hundred people through a space in a fixed window. Size the booking against the crowd, not against the budget line, and consider two booths instead of a longer single booking.
  • Paperwork. Schools and universities almost always require a certificate of insurance naming the institution. We carry $1M per occurrence and $2M aggregate and issue a certificate within 48 hours. Request it the same week you book, not the week of the event.
  • Facilities. Campus load in is rarely the front door. Ask your contact about the service entrance, the elevator if you are above ground floor, and what time the room is actually unlocked.
  • Power. Most campus spaces have plenty. Some older auditoriums and tented quads do not. Confirm there is a working standard outlet near the position you want the booth in.
  • Branding. If the event is sponsored, the Brand Activation booth exists for that and starts at $2,500 for four hours. If it is not sponsored, you do not need it.
  • Career services. A senior year headshot station is a genuinely good use of a campus budget. The Headshot booth is $599 for three hours and moves one person at a time, which is the correct shape for a LinkedIn photo line.

One practical note on timing. School events cluster hard in the last three weeks of May, and so do the parties. If you are a school booking a May date, you are competing with every family in the county for the same Saturday.

How long to run the booth at a graduation party

Two hours is the right answer for a house party. Graduation parties are front loaded in a way weddings are not. Guests arrive within a forty five minute band, eat, and the booth gets hammered for about an hour and then thins out. Three hours of booth at a two and a half hour party is money spent on the empty back half.

The one scheduling mistake worth avoiding is opening the booth the moment the first guest arrives. Give it thirty minutes. Let people eat, let the graduate get through the round of hugs, then open it. An open booth with nobody in it reads as a booth nobody wants, and that is hard to recover from at a party this short.

If the party runs long and you want to keep going, an extra hour is $150 to $250 depending on booth. It is a decision you can make on the night. It is not a decision you should make in advance out of fear.

What $399 gets you at a graduation party

Two hours on the open air Social booth, an attendant on site the whole time, a custom template in the school colors with the class year, instant delivery to every guest's phone, an online gallery hosted for three years, and no travel fee anywhere in Broward, Miami-Dade or Palm Beach. Setup takes about 30 minutes and our crew arrives 60 minutes before doors. Idle time is not billed separately, so a break while everyone eats costs you nothing extra.

What Motion charges for a graduation party, and how to book one

The Social booth is $399 for two hours and it is what we would put in your backyard. If prints are the point, the Classic is $749 for three hours. If the graduate wants the spinning platform, the 360 is $699 for three hours. A campus headshot station is $599 for three hours. Extra hours run $150 to $250. A custom printed backdrop is $250 and a guest book station is $150, and neither one is necessary at a graduation party.

Those prices are published rather than gated behind a form, which is not true of roughly half this market. There is no travel fee to Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Boca Raton, Weston, Hollywood or anywhere else in the three counties. Idle time counts toward your booked hours instead of being billed on top of them. An attendant comes with every booking. There is a written guarantee behind all of it.

May and June Saturdays go first, so if you have a date in mind, check it early. Look at the full price list, then send us the date, the address and roughly how many people are coming.

Common questions

How much is a photo booth for a graduation party?

In South Florida, $399 for two hours on an open air booth with an attendant included covers most graduation parties. A print focused enclosed booth is $749 for three hours and a 360 is $699 for three hours. For a backyard party of fifty to eighty people, the two hour open air option is usually the right call.

Can you set up a photo booth in a backyard?

Yes, with shade or a tent. Every booth we run works outdoors under cover. Grass is acceptable but not preferred, because it is soft and rarely level. Pavers, a patio, a pool deck or a garage floor are better. You need one standard outlet within reach of where the booth will stand.

What happens if it rains during a graduation party in June?

Have a place to move it. The attendant can break down an open air booth and relocate it quickly, but only if there is a garage, a covered patio or a tent to move into. Decide on that spot when you book, not when the sky turns. Afternoon storms in May and June are normal, not exceptional.

Can you put our school colors and the class year on the photos?

Yes, and it is included rather than a separate charge. Send the school name, the two colors and the year, plus a crest or logo if you have one. We build the template before the event. Keep the year large, because that is what makes the photo read as a graduation photo years later.

Do guests get the photos on their phones right away?

Yes. The Social booth is digital first, so delivery to a phone is instant rather than a gallery email the next day. That matters more at a graduation than anywhere else, because the friend group wants to post it while they are still standing there. Prints run ten to twelve seconds per photo if you also want something physical.

How long should the photo booth run at a graduation party?

Two hours. Graduation parties are front loaded: guests arrive in a tight band, eat, and the booth peaks for about an hour. Open it about thirty minutes after guests start arriving rather than immediately. If the party runs long, an extra hour is $150 to $250 and you can decide on the night.

Does a school need proof of insurance for a photo booth on campus?

Almost always. Schools and universities typically require a certificate of insurance naming the institution. We carry $1M per occurrence and $2M aggregate and issue a certificate within 48 hours at no charge. Request it in the same week you book, because campus facilities and risk management offices work on their own timeline.
